The Goethe-Institut in Thessaloniki is set to unveil the exhibition ‘I am Jamilia’ on November 25, coinciding with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Created by photographer Irina Unruh, the exhibition highlights the plight of women in Kyrgyzstan forced into abduction and marriage, focusing on the tradition of Ala Kachuu. Through portraits and personal testimonies, the exhibit aims to amplify the voices of survivors and foster conversations against gender-based violence. Accompanying events will engage local feminist groups and the public in addressing these critical issues.
