Greece Emerges as Future Energy Hub in Southeast Europe
Greece is poised to become a key energy hub in Southeast Europe through significant investments in the regions of Macedonia and Thrace, as highlighted at the Thessaloniki Investment Forum. Key projects include the €4.5 billion Trans-Adriatic Pipeline, a €500 million LNG facility in Alexandroupoli, and renewable energy initiatives totalling around €2 billion. The Greek Energy Exchange president emphasized the importance of connectivity with neighboring countries and outlined the role of the Just Transition Fund. The combined efforts aim to attract innovative energy investments and strengthen Greece’s position in the European energy landscape.
