Pharmacies in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland Vote to Cut Hours Amid Funding Crisis

Pharmacies across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland have unexpectedly voted to reduce opening hours and suspend home deliveries in protest against inadequate government funding. The National Pharmacy Association (NPA), representing around 6,500 community pharmacies, reports that 99% of participating pharmacies support this action due to a significant funding shortfall. With core funding having dropped by 40% since 2015-16 and 700 pharmacies closing in the past two years, the NPA warns that if financial support is not improved, further service withdrawals may occur as early as next year.
