Record Immigration Trends in OECD Countries: Insights from 2023 Report
The OECD reported a record influx of 6.5 million new permanent immigrants in 2023, up from 6.1 million in 2022, driven mainly by family migration (up 16%) and humanitarian immigration (up 20%). Countries such as the UK, Canada, and Japan experienced significant rises. Despite stable labor migration, the integration of immigrants into the workforce has achieved historically high levels, with employment rates reaching 71.8% and low unemployment at 7.3%. The share of immigrants among entrepreneurs also increased, highlighting their growing contribution to economic growth.
