Greece Targets Unemployment Reduction Among Vulnerable Groups
Greek Labor Minister Niki Kerameus highlighted efforts to further reduce unemployment, currently at 9.3%, during the Export Summit X. She emphasized targeted strategies aimed at specific demographics, including women and the elderly, acknowledging challenges in boosting job numbers among these groups. Since 2019, the nation has added 500,000 jobs, contributing to a 50% decrease in unemployment. Additionally, the government plans to raise the minimum wage from 830 euros to 950 euros by 2027, enhancing the average salary, which now exceeds 1,250 euros. Training initiatives and policies are being introduced to match labor market needs.
