Greece Launches HPV Vaccination Awareness Campaign
The Panhellenic Association of Health Visitors has initiated a new campaign to promote HPV vaccination, emphasizing its importance for children aged 9 to 12. The HPV vaccine is the most effective defense against the virus responsible for 5% of global cancers, including cervical and oral cancers. With nearly 700 new cervical cancer cases annually in Greece, the Association urges parents to make informed decisions regarding vaccination. They aim to meet the World Health Organization’s target of vaccinating 90% of girls by age 15 by 2030, ultimately working towards the elimination of cervical cancer by 2047.
