A rescue operation in the Mediterranean on Monday morning successfully retrieved 25 migrants and refugees, including an eight-member Syrian family, from a distressed vessel 20 nautical miles south of Crete. The migrants were collected by a FRONTEX ship and are being transported to Kaloi Limenes. Among them was a 76-year-old cancer-stricken grandmother who required immediate hospitalization.
