Rare Apatosaurus Skeleton Sells for €4.7 Million at French Auction
An Apatosaurus skeleton, nicknamed ‘Vulcain,’ measuring over 20 meters and dating back 150 million years, has been sold for €4.7 million in Paris. The skeleton, which is largely intact with 75-80% original bones, was discovered in Wyoming and restored in France. The buyer plans to donate it to a museum or scientific institution. This sale highlights the booming fossil market, where record-breaking sales have become increasingly common, including the recent sale of a Stegosaurus skeleton for approximately $45 million.
