Advancements in Treating Urinary Tract Infections: A New Biocompatible Material from Texas A&M University
Researchers at Texas A&M University have developed a biocompatible material that gradually releases beneficial E. coli bacteria to combat urinary tract infections (UTIs). The innovative approach addresses the challenge of tackling chronic UTIs while minimizing antibiotic resistance. By using a gel structure, the material can release bacteria over two weeks, competing against harmful bacteria and potentially providing a new strategy for managing recurrent infections traditionally resistant to treatment.
