A recent study published in Scientific Reports found that readers often prefer poems generated by AI, such as ChatGPT, over those written by renowned human poets like Shakespeare and Emily Dickinson. In tests with 1,634 participants, many believed AI-generated poems to be human creations, attributing beauty and depth to simpler styles. However, judgments shifted when participants were informed of the authorship, leading to lower evaluations for AI poems. Experts argue this reveals more about reader biases than AI creativity, suggesting that while AI may assist poets, it risks diminishing the uniqueness of human expression.
