Alarm Raised in Greece After New Sheep Pox Case Confirmed
Health authorities in Magnesia, Greece, are on high alert following the discovery of a third case of sheep pox in a livestock unit near Diminiou. This case follows two previous infections in the region, raising concerns among local farmers. The affected farmer promptly reported the symptoms to veterinary officials, leading to the confirmation of the virus in over 1,000 animals on the premises. Former livestock association president Haroula Divani urged the government to fulfill its financial obligations to farmers affected by past outbreaks. Further inspections of surrounding herds are expected imminently.
