Amnesty International Reports Surveillance Software Installed on Serbian Journalists’ Phones

Amnesty International’s recent report reveals that Serbian authorities have allegedly installed surveillance software on the phones of dozens of journalists and activists. The software, identified as ‘NoviSpy’, captures screen images, copies contacts, and uploads data to government-controlled servers. Reports indicate that suspicious activity on activists’ phones increased following interviews with Serbian police. Cellebrite DI Ltd, a firm providing unlock technology used by law enforcement, is currently investigating these claims, as violations of their agreement with clients could lead to action against Serbian authorities.
