Amnesty International Uncovers French-Made Military Equipment in Sudan Conflict
Amnesty International has revealed the use of French-manufactured military systems in the ongoing Sudanese conflict, which has escalated since April 2023. The equipment, produced by KNDS-France and Lacroix, is found on UAE-supplied armored vehicles operated by the Sudanese paramilitary Rapid Support Forces. This situation raises concerns of violations against the EU’s arms embargo, as the UN also restricts arms sales in the Darfur region. Calls for stricter export controls and accountability from the French government have intensified amidst the conflict, which has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths.
