Amsterdam Invests €2.5 Million to Expand Women’s Football Opportunities

The city of Amsterdam is set to invest €2.5 million to enhance women’s and girls’ football programs, aiming to establish more teams, recruit female coaches, and increase the number of tournaments. The initiative, highlighted by Sports Alderman Sofyan Mbarki, seeks to create eight ‘girls’ hubs’ across the city to make football accessible within 3 kilometers for all girls and women. Additionally, the municipality plans to boost the representation of female board members in sports, currently below 15%, and will host an international tournament featuring four women’s teams annually.
