Analysis of Real Wage Trends in Switzerland Highlights Economic Disparities

Worker representatives from Travailsuisse, Syna, and Transfair presented findings on declining real wages in Switzerland over the past three years, particularly in the healthcare sector, which has seen a 3.8% shortfall. Ongoing wage negotiations are reported in various sectors, with a mixed outlook. While the Swiss Employers Association notes an increase in real wages between 2012 and 2021, unions, led by Syna’s president Yvonne Feri, argue that rising productivity should also benefit employees, calling for wage increases across all sectors.
