Ancient Artifacts Discovered in Athens, Dating from Geometric to Hellenistic Periods
A collection of ancient artifacts, dating from the Geometric period (1100-750 BCE) to the Hellenistic era (up to 31 BCE), was found in a shop managed by the National Gallery in Athens. The discovery was made during an execution of court decisions aimed at removing former tenants. Culture Minister Lina Mendoni emphasized the importance of protecting cultural heritage and stated that the items will be assessed for historical value as investigations proceed. In total, 102 ancient items and over 3,000 coins were discovered, many of which were stored in inaccessible conditions.
