Ancient Statue Discovered Near Herodion in Athens
An ancient statue dating between the 1st and 5th century AD was uncovered near the Herodion during a gas pipeline installation project. Archaeologist Ilia Koukos confirmed that a second statue was found in the same area, highlighting the rich archaeological treasures still hidden in Athens. The findings suggest that the area south of the Acropolis once housed unique residences adorned with impressive mosaics and statues.
