German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock visited the infamous Saidnaya prison, a site of torture and execution under President Bashar al-Assad. Along with French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot, she urged for international efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice. Baerbock’s visit marks the first by EU ministers since the recent regime change in Syria, where discussions with the transitional government and key factions will focus on establishing rights and political inclusion for all Syrians.
