Apostolos Tzitzikostas Resigns as Central Macedonia Regional Governor to Become EU Commissioner
Apostolos Tzitzikostas has resigned from his position as the Regional Governor of Central Macedonia to take on the role of European Union Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism. The process for electing a new governor will be initiated by Voula Patoulidou, who topped the votes in the recent local elections in Thessaloniki. The Regional Council will convene within 15 days to present candidates and hold votes, with a minimum of 21 votes required for election.
