Archaeologists Discover Possible Tomb of Saint Nicholas in Turkey

Archaeologists in Turkey believe they have uncovered the tomb of Saint Nicholas, the inspiration for Santa Claus, near the Church of Saint Nicholas in Demre, Antalya. A two-meter-long sarcophagus was found buried two meters underground within a two-story structure adjacent to the church. Researchers are now looking for an inscription that may reveal the date and identity of the deceased, adding to historical intrigue surrounding the church, which has been a pilgrimage site and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1982.
