Areva has consented to pay a €4.8 million fine to conclude corruption investigations relating to its mining operations in Mongolia between 2013 and 2017. This settlement, finalized on December 2, will see former subsidiary Orano Mining implement a compliance program due to the allegations of bribery involving a Mongolian businessman. The investigation, initiated in 2015, uncovered questionable payments linked to securing mining licenses, implicating multiple high-level Mongolian officials.
