On the evening of January 8, 2023, gunfire was reported near the presidential palace in N’Djamena, Chad. Eyewitnesses and journalists documented the chaotic scene as armed men attacked inside the palace. Chad’s Foreign Minister, Abderaman Koulamallah, reassured that the situation was ‘under control’ following what he described as a ‘small incident.’ In response to the violence, access to the presidential area has been restricted and security reinforcements deployed.
