Attempted Telephone Scam Foiled in Chania, Greece
An attempted telephone scam targeting an 86-year-old woman in Chania, Greece, was thwarted on December 17. The woman received a call from someone posing as a police officer, claiming her brother was in a car accident and needed €10,000 for surgery. Not falling for the deception, she contacted the police, who then set up a sting operation.
