An Australian man, posing as a wedding celebrant in Melbourne, was found to have conducted five invalid marriages between March 2022 and April 2023 due to lack of proper documentation. Known as Will Cheesman, he claimed he was unable to complete necessary training due to job commitments. Couples discovered their marriages were not registered when attempting to change surnames. Cheesman was arrested and sentenced to six months of community service after one couple filed a complaint.
