Barnardos Reports 25% Increase in Support for Children and Adults Amid Rising Demand

Barnardos, the children’s charity, reported a 25% increase in individuals supported last year, reaching 26,009 children and adults impacted by adversity and childhood trauma. Despite a decrease in waiting lists for assessments, over 2,011 children still await vital services, with many facing delays. The charity emphasizes the necessity of intensive family support to address issues like parental conflict, mental health, and domestic violence. Additionally, participation in an online safety program saw a 37% rise, while Barnardos faces a €700,000 deficit and aims to raise €10 million to meet growing needs.
