Basel-Stadt’s Tablet Program Filters Thousands of Inappropriate Access Attempts
In Basel-Stadt, a recent evaluation of personal tablets provided to students revealed that thousands of attempts to access unwanted content, such as pornography and violent games, were filtered out. Over two years, around 3,200 students have been using these devices in a controlled environment, where Microsoft internet filters and Swisscom Wi-Fi web filters have been employed. This highlights the importance of digital safety education both in schools and at home, as students are still finding ways to bypass restrictions.
