Bird Flu Detected on Poultry Farm in Putten, First Outbreak in Nearly a Year

A bird flu outbreak has been confirmed at an organic poultry farm in Putten, Gelderland, marking the first occurrence of the disease in almost a year, according to Agriculture Minister Piet Adema. To prevent the virus from spreading, all 23,000 chickens on the farm will be culled by the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority. In addition, 13 poultry farms within three kilometers of the infected site will be closely monitored, and a transport ban along with a confinement obligation has been imposed in the wider area.
