Breakthrough in Alzheimer Research with ‘Alzheimer in a Dish’ Model
Researchers at Mass General Brigham and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center have developed an ‘Alzheimer in a dish’ model that mimics the disease’s cellular and molecular changes within six weeks. This advanced laboratory model allows for faster testing of potential treatments and overcomes the limitations of mouse studies. Utilizing an innovative algorithm called Integrative Pathway Activity Analysis (IPAA), they identified disrupted cellular pathways and promising drug targets. The study highlights the potential for more effective therapeutic approaches in Alzheimer’s treatment.
