Calls for Suspension of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol Amid Martial Law Controversy

South Korea’s ruling People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon has suggested that President Yoon Suk Yeol should be suspended from office for the nation’s safety following his controversial attempt to impose martial law. Yoon’s initial decree, aimed at combating ‘anti-state forces,’ faced immediate opposition from parliament and was retracted hours later. As the main opposition Democratic Party prepares for an impeachment vote, allegations of insurrection against Yoon are being investigated. Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung condemned Yoon’s actions as insurrection and a military coup.
