Yoon’s initial decree, aimed at combating ‘anti-state forces,’ faced immediate opposition from parliament and was retracted hours later. As the main opposition Democratic Party prepares for an impeachment vote, allegations of insurrection against Yoon are being investigated. Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung condemned Yoon’s actions as insurrection and a military coup.
