Celebrating 111 Years of Crete’s Union with Greece in Chania

The city of Chania hosted emotional celebrations marking the 111th anniversary of Crete’s union with Greece. Makis Voridis, the Minister of State, represented the government and emphasized the importance of defending national sovereignty amid ongoing international conflicts. The celebrations included a divine service followed by a procession to the Venetian harbor for the ceremonial raising of the Greek flag, reminiscent of the historic event in 1913. Mayor Panagiotis Simantirakis delivered the day’s keynote address, and the festivities included a visit to the Naval Museum of Crete.
