Celebrating 30 Years of the Irish Primary Health Care Traveller Project

A national conference in Dublin marked 30 years since the inception of the Primary Health Care Traveller Project (PHCTP), which has significantly improved healthcare access for the Traveller community in Ireland. Established in 1994 by Dr. Missie Collins and Ronnie Fay, the project has led to increased awareness of health issues among Travellers, with notable improvements in screening for breast cancer and COVID-19 information dissemination. Despite its success, the initiative faces funding challenges, highlighting the ongoing need for support in addressing health inequalities.
