Celebrating the Feast of Saint Nicholas, Patron Saint of Sailors
On December 6th, the memory of Saint Nicholas, the protector of sailors and the Greek Navy, is honored. Born in the 3rd century, Saint Nicholas was known for his philanthropy and miraculous deeds. He used his wealth to aid the poor and orphans, famously providing dowries for three daughters to save them from servitude. He later became the Bishop of Myra and was imprisoned for his faith. Celebrated for his wisdom and moral integrity, he is particularly revered by sailors for his miracles related to the sea.
