Celebrating the Feast of Saint Savvas the Sanctified on December 5th

On December 5th, the memory of Saint Savvas the Sanctified and Saint Diogenes the Martyr is honored. Saint Savvas, born in Cappadocia, dedicated his life to monasticism and was known for his miraculous gifts. He served the poor and the sick and was sent as an ambassador to Constantinople on behalf of the Patriarch of Jerusalem. His relics were preserved and eventually returned to Jerusalem in 1965. Today also marks the International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development.
