Celebrations of Theophany Across Greece: A Day of Tradition and Faith
Today, the Orthodox Church celebrates Theophany with events held across various cities in Greece. Participants, young and old, dove into frigid waters to retrieve a cross, marking the occasion with national anthems and religious ceremonies. In Patras, 68 swimmers participated, while in Chania, crowds gathered for the water sanctification ceremony. Other regions like Zakynthos and Kalamata also celebrated with unique local traditions, including a significant turnout in Milina and Lesbos, reflecting the rich cultural heritage associated with this holy day.
