The Mayor of Ioannina, Thomas Begas, and Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy, Alexandra Sdoukou, met in Athens to discuss the challenges of achieving climate neutrality by 2030. They addressed difficulties in upgrading municipal buildings, the need for innovative funding tools, and strategies for air quality improvement. Begas proposed the establishment of energy communities and enhancing natural gas networks. Sdoukou highlighted financial support through the Just Transition Mechanism, prioritizing Ioannina for future climate initiatives starting in 2025.
