The Chania Municipality has approved the establishment of a temporary parking area at the site of the former Markopoulo Barracks in Agios Ioannis, with 27 votes in favor and 12 against. Opposition parties expressed concerns over the necessity and temporary nature of the parking, questioning its potential to alleviate traffic congestion. Mayor of Chania stated that the temporary facility aims to assist thousands of residents and visitors without causing significant disruption to the neighborhood.
