China to Build Largest Hydroelectric Dam in the World in Tibet

China has announced plans to construct the largest hydroelectric dam in the world on the Yarlung Zangbo River in southern Tibet, with an investment of approximately $137 billion. The government aims to enhance the country’s carbon neutrality strategy and combat global climate change, expecting the dam to generate 300 billion kWh annually, significantly surpassing the Three Gorges Dam’s output. This project has been described as the largest infrastructure undertaking globally.
