CNews Faced with Hefty Fines for Broadcast Violations in France
CNews has been fined a total of €150,000 by Arcom, France’s audiovisual regulator, for multiple violations in its programming. The first fine of €100,000 was imposed on the show ‘En quête d’esprit’ for inaccurately stating that abortion is the leading cause of death globally, prompting public backlash and subsequent apologies from the network. A second fine of €50,000 was levied against ‘Morandini Live’ for airing unverified claims about Muslim parents pressuring a school in Pau for prayer room access during a school trip. C8, another Bolloré-owned channel, is set to challenge its upcoming eviction from TNT.
