The Coast Guard of Kos responded to a stranded yacht near the shores of Skandari with an undeclared number of individuals onboard. Upon rescue, they discovered 51 migrants, including minors, hidden on the yacht. The vessel’s operator, a 47-year-old Ukrainian national, was arrested for illegal entry and human smuggling. Additionally, a number of migrants were found on the island of Pserimos following a report from a private individual, illustrating the ongoing challenges of illegal immigration in the region. Investigations are underway by the Kos and Kalymnos Coast Guard authorities.
