Commemorating 10 Years Since the Death of Author Menis Koumandareas

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the passing of Greek author and translator Menis Koumandareas, who died on December 5, 2014. Born in Athens in 1931, Koumandareas began his literary career in 1961. Notably active during the military dictatorship in Greece, he produced key works and received numerous awards post-Dictatorship, including the State Prize for Prose. In 2008, he was honored by the Academy of Athens for his contributions. A recent episode of ERT’s cultural series ‘Selection’ features his work and thoughts on literature.
