Commemorating Saint Ignatius of Antioch on December 20th
On December 20th, the memory of Saint Ignatius of Antioch is honored, known for his courageous defense of the Christian faith. Born between 68-70 AD, he became the bishop of Antioch and was martyred around 107 AD after being captured by Emperor Trajan. Despite efforts by the Christians of Rome to save him, Ignatius embraced his fate, ultimately being devoured by wild beasts in an amphitheater. His remains were later transferred to Rome. His teachings emphasize the importance of remaining steadfast in the doctrine of Christ.
