Residents of Petroalona in the municipality of Nea Propontida are alarmed by recent announcements regarding water safety in their area. Local authorities reported that water from Galarinou has elevated arsenic levels, rendering it unsafe for drinking and even irrigation, as advised by the Halkidiki Regional Health Directorate. This water quality issue has been persistent for years, affecting both Petroalona and the nearby community of Kreni. Further water testing is planned in the coming days.
