Conor Niland Wins William Hill Sports Book of the Year for ‘The Racket’

Former Irish tennis player Conor Niland has been awarded the prestigious William Hill Sports Book of the Year for his book ‘The Racket,’ marking the first time an Irish author has won since 1990. Niland’s book, co-written with journalist Gavin Cooney, explores the often-overlooked lives of professional tennis players outside of Grand Slam events. Reflecting on his career, Niland hopes the book will resonate with aspiring players and offers insights into the challenges faced in the sport. He expressed humility in receiving the award during a ceremony held in London.
