Indian wildlife officials have celebrated a significant conservation milestone with the hatching of a great Indian bustard chick through artificial insemination in Rajasthan. This critically endangered bird, once thriving in India, now faces threats from habitat loss and collisions with power lines. Currently confined mostly to Rajasthan, conservation efforts include breeding centers aimed at boosting the species’ population. However, concerns over human imprinting complicate future re-wilding efforts.
