On January 11, 2024, Deputy Minister of Sports Giannis Vroutsis will announce the construction of a public open swimming pool in Thermes, Mytilene. The project, part of the National Development Program for 2021-2025, will receive funding of €4.9 million. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had previously committed to this sports initiative, which is designed to boost local facilities. The swimming complex will include two swimming pools and additional facilities. Vroutsis emphasized the importance of sports infrastructure for the youth on the island.
