Corfu Water Crisis: Government Discusses Urgent Solutions
A inter-ministerial meeting convened to address Corfu’s ongoing water crisis, led by Minister Skylakakis, with Regional Governor G. Trepeklis participating via video conference. Trepeklis pushed for immediate project planning as proposed dam solutions remain unimplemented after years. He suggested sourcing water from nearby regions. Concerns were raised over the feasibility of proposed dams, with a significant reduction in projected water capacity. Additionally, a desalination unit is set to be established in Chrysiida, with funding to be pursued, while ongoing efforts to replace water networks across the island will continue.
