Couple Pleads Guilty to Animal Welfare Violations in Filthy Dog Breeding Operation
William and Eleanor Sheehy, residents of Co Cork, have pleaded guilty to multiple animal health and welfare offenses following the discovery of deplorable conditions in their dog breeding operation. The couple, described as ‘dog lovers at heart,’ kept 50 dogs and over 20 puppies in an old piggery filled with faeces and unhealthy living conditions. Many animals were found underweight and suffering from health issues. The district court in Clonakilty heard the couple now faces sentencing after admitting to six of the nine charges brought by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
