Court Imposes Suspended Sentences in Athlete Injury Case
In a recent court ruling in Veria, Greece, a 22-year-old athlete, Giannis Avramidis, recounted the severe injury he sustained during a pole vault accident in May 2019. The court found the athlete’s coach and the stadium president guilty of causing bodily harm through negligence, sentencing them to ten months and twelve months of imprisonment, respectively, with a three-year suspension. Giannis, who now lives with a disability, attended the proceedings as the defendants maintained their innocence, claiming they were not responsible for the incident.
