Cristina Kirchner Sentenced to Six Years for Corruption in Argentina
Former Argentine President Cristina Kirchner has been sentenced to six years in prison for corruption, following a court’s confirmation of her earlier conviction in 2022. Accused of awarding public contracts to a close associate without proper bidding, Kirchner is also banned from holding public office for life. The 71-year-old has denied the allegations, claiming political motivations behind the judicial actions, and intends to appeal the latest ruling. Kirchner served as president from 2007 to 2015 and is the widow of former president NĂ©stor Kirchner.
