Critical Staffing Issues at Hippocrates Hospital in Kos
The president of the Hospital Physicians’ Association in Kos, Giannis Kotsidas, highlighted the severe staffing shortages and operational challenges facing the Hippocrates Hospital. An interested private company from Athens was mentioned to potentially assist with minor surgical operations, however, official guidelines are still pending. Kotsidas criticized the ongoing reduction in medical personnel, which has led to a ‘grim situation’ for remaining staff, and pointed out that financial cuts, including slashed allowances, have prompted many Greek doctors to seek opportunities abroad.
